FARMERS FOR ACTION

PRESS RELEASE 25/2/2016

FARMING TO LONDON MARCH 2016

Farmers For Action, are holding a March in London on Wednesday 23 March 2016 to represent all sectors of the farming industry. As this is the last sitting of parliament and also the last Prime Minister's Questions before the Easter recess, there will be plenty of MPs in London who will hopefully support our event. This will be an event billed as a “celebration of farming” and we are keen that the event promotes, to the general public, why farming is so important to the countryside and the wider economy. The event will also be an opportunity to convey some key messages about the challenges currently being felt by many farmers in all sectors.

The March will assemble at Waterloo Place, SW1at 11.00 am, and then make its way to Trafalgar Square where there will be media and press calls, and where we can talk tothe general public and hand out various marketing material including Red Tractor, etc.,Following on from this interlude, we will then continue straight down Whitehall to Downing Street where a small delegation will be given access to No 10 Downing Street to present a letter to Rt Hon David Cameron outlining our concerns for our industry and the failure of his Ministers to represent our interests and the lack of power given to the Grocery Code Adjudicator, amongst other issues.

The March has the full support of NFYFC and the TFA and is being sponsored by various agri businesses, details of which can be found on

www.farmersforaction.org,and Facebook Farmers4Action, where you will also find information regarding coaches that are being provided for transport to the capital from various parts of the country.

We would urge all sectors of our farming community to come and join us on 23 March 2016 in a show of unity, sendinga very strong message to our government, we will not allow our great industry, which is the backbone of the UK ,to go down the same route as the coal and steel industry.
